FAQs

Q: Where did you get the idea for Code Name: Silence?

A: I've always wanted to write a sci-fi novel. I was actually lacking in ideas for a long time until I thought about writing a superhero novel. I thought it would be really fun to create my own superhero team, villains, and story for them to be in. I started by coming up with characters, then I matched them with powers that fit their interests and personalities. Originally, there were five members in the superhero group. The fifth member was a 15-year-old named Nathan who had levitation powers and knew Karate. But after some thought, I felt that four superhuman characters was plenty, so I gave Robert the levitation/flight power, and added a few years to Nathan, making him Norman's 19-year-old son.

Q: How do I order a copy of Code Name: Silence?

A: Code Name: Silence is available through Amazon.com. You can also order it via PayPal. More info about ordering can be found here.

Q: Where did the character Silence come from?

A: I was unaware that one of the biggest challenges of writing a superhero novel is creating an evil, believable villain or villains for the heroes to fight. How can you be a superhero without a supervillain? I was completely out of ideas for a villain until I saw Spider-Man, starring Toby Maguire and Willem Dafoe. Dafoe's performance as the Green Goblin blew me away. I wanted my villain to be like that. In the beginning, Silence was going to be this evil, yet troubled man without much "screen time". That changed when I started writing him. He took on a life of his own and practically took over my story, becoming a sensitive, cautious man with a twisted past who could hold his own in a fight. The rest is history.

Q: Who did the art on the cover?

A: I did. :-)
